Theory tests can be taken at 41 test centre locations around the country as part of the RSA’s driver testing and licensing process.
Use the locate a test site feature on theory Road Safety Authority website to select the correct vehicle category you need (car, motorcycle/moped, bus or truck) and then find the nearest test centre.
Information on current appointment times is available from the online booking page or by calling the information and booking line, 1890 606-106. Available appointment times can vary between test centres.
Note: if you fail to arrive at the centre in time for your test appointment or cancel within five days of your test appointment you will lose your test fee.
Applying for Test
Before applying for your driving test online:
Verify that you are eligible to sit your test— Make sure you have taken the 12 Mandatory EDT driving lessons.
Know your current, valid driver number.
- Know your PPS number—this can be found on tax documents or your pay slip and it is often on correspondence from a social welfare or tax office.
You must have a valid debit, laser or credit card (Visa and Mastercard are currently accepted).
